Music Video Finale

P2T4 Price Tag from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Wow! Time sure went by fast. This is my last blog post of the year! To began, the last and final project that my GT class is doing is Music Videos. My partners for this project is Kalista Brigante, Blossom Novoa, and Mike Perry. The song me and my team chose to do is called Price Tag by Jessie J. To be able to film we created our own plan that consisted of the lyrics and the storyline. The storyline is basically the b-roll parts of the song, it helps the audience understand the story behind the song. The storyline relates to our lyrics because it shows that everybody is unhappy and is being obsessed with shopping and spending money but they don't realize that "money can’t buy us happiness". The lyrics are about how it's not all about the money and we have a good time spending time with each other instead of spending all of your time shopping and spending money on things that you couldn't possibly need. Then in the middle it shows that we all figure out that we can just have a good time with our friends and not have to spend tons of money. Also, in the ending of the storyline it shows us forgetting about shopping and we just leave are shopping bags behind and walk out of the store.

To engage our audience into our music video it is best to do fast-edit montage sequences. My favorite fast-edit montage sequences are the wide, medium, and close shots. Those sequences are my favorite because they really get the attention from our audience. It also puts everything together and makes it look neat yet interesting. In our Music Video we used a lot of the wide, medium, and close shot sequences. Whenever we make videos we usually use these fast-edit montages, so I have a lot of practice and experience with working with it.

One of our goals for this Music Video project is to showcase our best work and make it show what we learned all this year. This music video shows are best work because the quality of it, we made sure the editing was to the beat and the lip-syncs matched with the song. We added effects to certain scenes to add emotion. We also used different filming techniques and added cut shots. Overall, me and my team really put are best work to this. We wanted to end off the year great and produce a quality produced music video. To conclude my final blog post of the year, this was my favorite project and I had a blast creating this music video. Me and my team worked very hard and worked together to complete this project. I can't wait for another fun-filled 8th grade year!

Seems like everybody's got a price
I wonder how they sleep at night
When the sale comes first
And the truth comes second
Just stop for a minute and smile
Why is everybody so serious
Acting so dang mysterious
Got shades on your eyes
And your heels so high that you can't even have a good time
Everybody look to their left
Everybody look to their right
Can you feel that, yeah
We're paying with love tonight
It's not about the money money money
We don't need your money money money
We just wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag
Ain't about the uh cha-ching cha-ching
Ain't about the yeah b-bling b-bling
Wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag
We need to take it back in time
When music made us all unite
And it wasn't low blows and video no’s
Am I the only the one getting tired
Why is everybody so obsessed
Money can't buy us happiness
Can we all slow down and enjoy right now
Guarantee we'll be feeling alright
Everybody look to their left
Everybody look to their right
Can you feel, yeah
We're paying with love tonight
It's not about the money money money
We don't need your money money money
We just wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag
Ain't about the uh cha-ching cha-ching
Ain't about the yeah b-bling b-bling
Wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag
Well keep the price tag
And take the cash back
Just give me six strings
And a half stack
And you can, can keep the cars
Leave me the garage
And all I, yes all I need are keys and guitars

Animated Life Lessons

P2T8 Friends Overcome Issues from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

My GT class is now starting to create our animation videos. My teammates are Ella BeckCoral Haeger, and Cephas Woodward. One of the goals for this project was to include what kind of characteristics we are. My character traits is that I am always a clean, neat, and organized person. Even the littlest things catch my eye. I clean everything, it's like a habit. Our exaggerates who I am because it shows me cleaning every little thing and it shows me putting cleaning first before anything else. Ella's characteristics is that she is a very clumsy and a awkward person. She's not the type to be that good at things. In our animation it shows her to talk to er thinking about a whole different thing when were trying to tell her something. Also, it shows that she tries to cook something but it turns out to look very gross and not good. On the other hand, Coral is the shy and not so "social butterfly" type of girl. In our story it shows her asking the ones she's close to if she's outgoing and they admit she's not. Last but not least, Cephas is the humorous kind of guy, but a little too much humor. He always laughs at the wrongs things at the wrong time. Our story embraces his traits because it shows him laughing at something not that funny.

In our animation, the goal was to create humor and how our life lesson or message relates to us. Our story has humor because of how we made our characteristics do things funny. For example, Cephas likes to tell jokes but they aren't that funny which kind of throws everyone off and doesn't make any sense. Also, one of the things we added to our animation was an option tool in photoshop called puppet warp. Puppet warp made our characters look silly. Overall, the little details we included, added a bit humor to our story to entertain our audience yet still be relatable. Our life life lesson or message was to accept the kind of person you are and embrace those unique characteristics we all have. It's okay to be different. That message relates to us I'm sure a lot of us wanted to change something about ourselves or didn't like something about them. We want this to help all of us to remind us that it's okay to be different and no one is perfect.

In my opinion, this animation project was the hardest assignment we've had this year. Although, it is good to face challenges because you can grow and get better from that. The level of productivity was about a high level, I wouldn't say on the very top but on the high range. We were good at working together. The biggest challenge in making the animation was probably creating the animations. We had to make lots of frames and detail to it. It took a lot of work. We had to make sure the visuals were things that our audience would understand and take interest in. To add, the best moment during production was actually finishing and turning in our animation. There's nothing better than that feeling when all the hard work we did payed off. We had a plan and a time frame of what to be finished each day and we met those goals to stay on task. Overall, creating this animation was definitely more complex but with the team work between my teammates we were able to conquer yet enjoy this animation project.

Character Development

It's finally the last quarter of the school year! The first project that my GT class has been starting on after spring break is making animated characters for a animation video using a tool in photoshop called puppet warp. Since we are creating characters that have different characteristics, I decided to share what kind of person I am and what my characteristics are. I am the kind of person who is always happy and positive. I try to make the best out of everything no matter if it's good or bad. I am an independent person who likes to be the leader. I have respect for everybody and I treat others how I wish to be treated.  Lastly, I try to do well in school and think about what I want to do in my future.

The character traits that I plan to exaggerate while animating myself are my facial expressions and my position. I am always a happy person inside and out. By that I mean that I am always happy emotionally and I always have a smile on my face. I want to look like I'm happy, excited, and joyful. I could do this by possibly moving my arms up to look like I'm more excited and joyful. I could even make my hands wave and my feet move in a certain position. The smile on my face will also create more expression.

To complete creating my .GIF animated character, I had to go through several steps. First, I had to cut out myself using the quick selection tool in photo shop from the green screen pictures that Mr. Sanderl took of me. Then, I had to crop my image down to right size which was 640 pixels wide and 720 pixels tall with a resolution of 300. To start animating I went to Window---Animation and started making copies of each frame while moving my character slowly into the frame. Some of my classes made their characters come up from the bottom or down from the top. I decided to make my character come in the from the side. Next I went to Edit---Puppet Warp which is a tool in photo shop that can manipulate my character. Then I copied and reversed my animation frames. To make my .GIF not look as boring, I made a copy of the layer and drew my own background. Finally, the last step was to save my work my going to File---Save for Mobile and Devices and saved my work as a .GIF file. Overall, I am happy and satisfied with how my .GIF turned out because it's colorful, fun, neat, and overall complete.

.MOV Film Festival

P2T3 Aunty Solves Bullying from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

The latest project that my GT class has been working on is film making for a film festival. We had to create a plan to know what we have to film to begin filming. One thing that we included in the plan was keywords. The keywords that my team and I chose are forgiving, insecure, suspicious, harass, bully, advice, and help. Our keywords connect with our audience because it tells the way the characters and audience should feel after watching our sitcom video.

The overall message is to help other people that are going through this type of bullying problem and to entertain the audience by giving the joyful yet humorous and warm feeling. Also, if someone one is harassing you, don’t be afraid to tell someone like a friend, teacher, parent, auntie or even your grandparents because they'll most likely help you or give you advice. Remember that it does not matter what things you are good or not good at, you are a human just like everyone else and don’t let no one make you ashamed of that! If you don't like what others are doing to you, tell them that! I'm sure they will stop and you will eventually put an end to it.

During this project of film making my team and I have faced some challenges. The biggest challenge that we faced was probably getting all of our film together. During the film day, after filming most of the stuff, both our cameras died! So in result of that we had to re-schedule another filming day to finish up. I'm glad that we got all our filming done even with that challenge. We all worked as a team and is satisfied how our Sitcom video turned out. This was an amazing opportunity and I hope we get to do more film making. I must say, film making is one of my favorite projects to do in GT, especially when we are entering contests and experiencing film festivals and critiques!:)

Tiny Spherical Worlds

Another project?..... yes! The latest project that my GT class has been working on is spherical and polar panos. We are doing many of them; practices, school, and our final. When taking our pictures for our worlds, we have to take composite images. Composite images are when you take more than one photo but it has to be overlapping the previous photo you just took. The point of composite images is so that when photoshop does its things it can all be combined in a interesting manner. It will combine all of the pictures you took and combine them into one image. In our previous project we took composite images but in our photomontages you can actually see the different pictures because there bordered and our world images are all combined to one. Composite images make images look more abstract and surreal especially when we edit them. Most times they have a meaning, tells a story, or creates emotion.

The difference between polar and spherical panos is that polar panos include more sky then land, the land is directly in the middle but the sky takes up most of the space. It looks like your standing on top of your world for the polar portrait. Even without the portraits it still looks like your on top of your world because you can see everything like your in the sky. On the other hand, spherical panos are different than polar panos because the actual land space takes up most of the space and the sky is around it like a border. Also, it is different because instead of looking above your world the spherical effect makes like your actually on the land or in other words ground level. It looks like your looking up at the sky.
.
Lastly, the thing that makes my finished tiny worlds convincing is because of how it really stands out and how abstract and surreal it is. Also, it also is convincing because it reminds me to always follow my dreams even if they are SURREAL! I can do anything I set my mind too. This project was something that stood out because of it's features like the portraits and edits. Kind of like me, I always like to stand out and be different from the rest. To conclude, this project was not the easiest but I'm glad I got the opportunity to complete this because I think there is a message behind it. It was a great reminder for me especially this time of the school year!!

Hockney Style Joiners

Our latest GT project that my class has been working on is photo montages. We are working on two examples, one as school pictures and one as are final which represents us. This project was inspired by David Hockney's work. His photomontages are different from mines because of course they are taken in different settings. But, he also takes more pictures than I do. In order to create a photomontage you have to take several pictures and then you combine them together. On the other hand, David takes about 100 more pictures as you can see in the picture below. I take roughly 25-50 pictures do to requirements.

Different images can have different meanings and can send positive and negative messages. Images can send positive and negative images by the emotion in the picture, if someone is smiling or laughing that sends positive messages but if the person looks angry or sad then that can send negative messages. Or if images are landscape or something else besides portraits they can send positive or negative messages by mabey the color of the sky, if there's bright blue skies with the lovely sun shining I would feel more happy and positive but if the sky is dark and stormy I would feel more on the negative side. Another example of sending a positive message is the filter like if the vibrance and exposure is up. If the filter is black and white I'd feel more sad and empty.  So overall, it depends on how to image looks.

Lastly, the message I intended my audience to see was a positve and inspried message. My photomontage is of the school campus to represent the person I am, hard working, determined , bright, happy, and joyful. School is also where I earn good grades to become smarter. I want my audience to be motivated and inspried to work hard and do well in school. I want them to know it's a safe place for anybody. To wrap things up, I just want my audience to feel happy and inspired when they look at my piece of art that I worked very hard on.:)

2016 Aspirations

Happy New Year everyone! It's officially 2016! The first goal that I will attain in 2016 is too continue too get good grades and always do my best work. Second goal is to always stay positive and too leave all the negative behind. Third goal is too to continue to treat others with respect no matter what. My fourth goal is too believe and push myself to achieve anything I put my mind too such as soccer and school. My last and final goal is to not be on my electronics that much and enjoy whats around me.

The one goal that is most important to me is my fourth goal which is to believe and push myself to do anything I put my mind too. That goal is the most important to me because I want to be able to accomplish anything I put my mind too. Like, going over my teachers expectations or requirements and getting better at soccer by using practice time wisely. At soccer games I want to always give it my all and do my best. I need to have the courage to push myself with motivation and positivity. I want to strive for the best.

The steps that I will take to ensure success is like I said earlier, always strive for the best and push myself with motivation and positivity. I also have to BELIEVE in myself. I can't let anybody let me down or discourage me from what I want to do. I also can't get to greedy with what I want to do in the future, always be HUMBLE. To conclude, those are my 5 main goals and the steps I have to do to accomplish this year. I have to say, I did start this year great and I'm ready for what this year has in store for me!!
